Gunnison Valley
The Gunnison alternates between pristine trout fisheries, public recreation areas, heritage ranches, and tumultuous whitewater fed by snowmelt runoff. The Gunnison River's diverse fishing opportunities are largely due to the high mountain tributaries that feed it.
These high-altitude creeks create a variety of habitats and microclimates, supporting a wide range of aquatic species. The cold, clear waters cascading down from the mountains provide ideal conditions for trout, including cutthroat, rainbow, brown, and brookie.
