Our Story
Traveling with an angler mindset has shown us ecosystems and brought us closer to local communities. It is travel. It is philosophy. It is a way of life. West Feather was curated on the idea of teaching more than just how to catch a fish with a fly rod. But instead how to begin your own progression in the sport, and how it can better your life.
The philosophy of travel and angling as well as the foundations of Westfeather were the outcomes of a 90 day expedition in Chilean Patagonia. This is where the founding members made a connection of nature to life and made a promise to start a sustainable business around that idea. For us, the best way to create that connection is through angling.
Our Mission
At Westfeather, our purpose is to curate meaningful and lasting relationships with our clients to facilitate outdoor recreation and fishing opportunities unique to individuals at any skill level. We provide innovative instructions to allow clients to build upon their own sense of creativity, solitude, and progression.
Our retreats provide opportunities for our clients to relax the mind, body, and soul to enhance their relationship with themselves and nature. Westfeather is devoted to providing education on ecosystems, sustainability, conservation, and personal growth that supports the integrity and longevity of natural resources.
Through community outreach and youth involvement, Westfeather engages in educational experiences that ensure the enjoyment and protection of natural resources for future generations. In all, this encompasses what we call "The Westfeather Way."

Dom
OWNER & GUIDE
Raised in Northern Colorado, Dom developed an obsession for angling at the early age of five. The diversity of wildlife ecosystems and angling journeys continues to fuel this passion every day.
Westfeather brings together Dom's global angling and guiding experience — from Atlantic Salmon in Iceland, resident trout in Patagonia, and multiple expeditions in the mountains, jungles, and ocean flats of Asia, North and South America.
Dom believes strongly that education, client progression, conservation, and community impact are core to Westfeather. If you ask him, what's a good day "on the water"? Pairing the richness of the outdoors with good food, drink, music, and company.

Trevor
GUIDE
Trevor grew up in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. Although he was always interested in fly fishing, he didn’t get the bug for it until he moved west to the Rocky Mountains almost ten years ago. It was in and around the Colorado River basin that he knew he wanted to pursue this passion and lifestyle. He then moved to the Gunnison River Valley and has been guiding fly fishing for 5+ years.
From the depths of the canyons and meadows of ox bows to the tree line of the high country, Trevor finds peace and solace in every creek, river and alpine lake. He loves chasing big fish with big bugs. The most rewarding aspects of fly fishing for Trevor is the locations it brings him, sharing and capturing memorable moments with clients, and creating a lifestyle around being on the water.

Reed
GUIDE
Reed grew up fishing the Great Lakes as well as inland lakes all across northern Michigan. He has been guiding across Colorado, the desert southwest and western US, as well as internationally as a mountain guide, year around for 25 years. Reed fell in love with the art of fly fishing in the far remote northern landscape of Iceland chasing arctic char in local rivers. To Reed, it's the moment between the moments including stillness, balance, quiet, slow breath and patience, methodical immersion into the immediate environment, time and space that is the experience. The bonus, when it all comes together in the form of connecting with a fish as a form of confirmation of divine connectivity to something so much bigger and universal!
